Gxrh hobbies lead

For many people, their hobbies came from family. Their Dad or Grandfather, or Uncle had a hobby that they spent time with them as a youth, and it stuck. My main hobbies were, and continue to be things that no one else in my family does.

Cars, motorcycles, and Jeeps.

My dad and I worked on cars as a necessity, it wasn’t a hobby for him. We needed things fixed and had to do it ourselves. There are a few stories I was told growing up about motorcycle riding and racing but it’s not something we did together. I do have an affinity for making things, for doing the work myself, and a fierce independent streal from those days, there are no regrets for sure. My Uncle was a little into cars but he was more a braggart and sadly addicted to drugs so not a good influence at all.

Video games.

Considering the amount of trouble I used to get in for playing too much I’m surprised I still game at all. I have passed this passion on to my kids, but I never had someone growing up who had the same interest. Even my best friend wasn’t a gamer like me.

Photography.

This one came later after I took a course in High School at the local State college on photography. It is so weird to thing about the fact that we rarely took any pictures outside of school and I cannot recall one relative with a camera in their hand.

There are some hobbies I share with friends and family.

The thing is though they aren’t my primary loves. They are things I do because others did them and we all want to connect on some level with people. The exception to that is model trains. Although all those folks who shared that passion have passed away it still makes me smile when I set them up.

What hobbies do you have and who influenced them?

I’ve shared most of mine. There’s woodworking, fishing, camping, etc. but again those aren’t hobbies as much as ways to enjoy my other passions or a necessity. Tell me about yours and how you fell in love with it. Let’s put a little positivity into the world!
