I keep watching videos on YouTube that say things like “Why Sony Camera Suck” or insert some other brand. Leica cameras are terrible, Fuji autofocus sucks so bad and more.
What if I told you that no camera sucks?
Seriously, no camera sucks. Sure not every camera is good at everything, and yes some cameras lack features compared to other cameras. I still put forth the idea that no camera sucks. It’s possible to take a good picture with any camera that’s in good working order.
Why do I say this?

Some of the world’s greatest memories have been captured on disposable film cameras. I believe an argument could be made that more wedding photos have been taken on disposable cameras than any other format in history. These photos weren’t all great but some are the best memories from that special day to millions of couples. Yet many complain about slow autofocus and minor inconsistencies in image quality in the corner. Photography is like golf, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
It’s Ok if a camera doesn’t work for you.
We all want different things. I have gotten rid of cameras that work very well but didn’t work for me. Now I use an anachronism of a camera that I really enjoy, no autofocus, no special features, no EVF, and it makes me happy. I also have a tech packed micro 4/3 camera that makes less sense as a camera but I also smile when I use it. I don’t think I’m a super positive person but all the brand hate seems wasteful.
Do tell camera companies what you want in a camera.
Clearly communicate expectations and wants to companies. If they don’t listen use your wallet to support a different company who does. Someone out there wants your business and someone out there wants to give you want you want.
